현대 한국 실험영화 생산주체의 고유성 탐구－서울국제실험영화페스티벌 10년을 중심으로－

Abstract

As other types of films except for narrative one, called ‘experimental film’, areproduced now, it is necessary to actively examine what contemporary Korean experimentalfilm is and this study will answer to this question in a round about way by shaping theimage of ecosystem in which contemporary Korean experimental films are produced. This study attempts to examine the current status and challenges of group of auteursproducing the contemporary Korean experimental films since the 2000s and ExperimentalFilm & Video Festival in Seoul(EXiS) marking its 10th anniversary this year as a communityof filmauteurs and search their distinct characteristic as contemporary Korean experimentalfilm production. It briefly looks into the formation process of the group of contemporaryKorean experimental film auteurs, understands the distinct characteristic through auteurtheory and tracks the current status and its challenges through a diachronic study ofEXiS over the past 10 years. This is not an attempt to homogenize Korean experimentalfilm auteurs constrainedly by fitting them under a category of Korea, but an attempt toidentify what the prototype of Korean auteurs is and what domestic production environmentssurrounding them look like.
