본 연구는 대구광역시 소재 고등학교 교가를 분석하여 지역정체성이 어떻게 표현되고 있는지를 살펴보았다. 교가는 단순한 학교의 상징적 노래가 아니라, 해당 학교가 위치한 지역의 역사적·지리적·문화적 특성을 반영하며 학생들에게 지역에 대한 정체성과 소속감을 형성하는 중요한 역할을 한다. 연구 결과, 대구 고등학교 교가에는 팔공산과 비슬산, 낙동강, 금호강 등 지역의 주요 지형과 하천이 빈번하게 등장하며, 이는 대구의 지리적 특성과 자연환경을 반영한다. 또한, 교가에는 신라적 요소가 포함되어, 대구의 역사적·문화적 정체성을 강조하고 있다. 특히, 서라벌과 같은 전통적 지명이 교가에 등장하여 대구의 역사적 뿌리와 신라적 전통을 상징하며, 지역 주민의 자긍심을 고취하고 지역 사회와의 유대감을 강화하는 역할을 한다. 본 연구는 교가를 통해 지역정체성이 어떻게 드러나는지 분석하고, 지역 문화와 교육의 연관성을 확인하였다. 향후 연구에서는 교가 외에도 다양한 문화적 요소를 분석하여 지역정체성 형성 과정을 폭넓게 탐색할 필요가 있다. 또한, 지역정체성의 변화 과정을 현대 사회에서 어떻게 반영하고 있는지에 대한 연구가 필요하다. 이러한 연구들은 지역 문화의 보존과 발전을 위한 중요한 자료로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.
Abstract
This study analyzed the school songs of high schools in Daegu Metropolitan City to examine how regional identity is expressed. The school song is not merely a symbolic song of the school, but reflects the historical, geographical, and cultural characteristics of the region in which the school is located, plays an important role in forming students' regional identity and sense of belonging. The study found that the school songs of Daegu high schools frequently reference major geographical features such as Palgongsan Mountain, Biseulsan Mountain, the Nakdonggang River, and the Geumhogang River, reflecting the geographical characteristics and natural environment of Daegu. In addition, the school songs include elements of Silla heritage, emphasizing Daegu's historical and cultural identity. In particular, traditional place names such as Seorabol appear in the school songs, symbolizing Daegu's historical roots and Silla traditions, fostering pride among local residents and strengthening the bond with the community. This study analyzed how regional identity is reflected through school songs and confirmed the relationship between regional culture and education. Future research should explore the process of regional identity formation more broadly by analyzing various cultural elements beyond school songs. Additionally, research is needed on how the process of changing regional identity is reflected in modern society. Such studies could serve as important resources for the preservation and development of regional culture.
