Abstract
Located in Yongam-ri, Sinpyeong-myeon, Imsil County, Jingu Temple Site has been excavated about seven times since 1992, and a number of relics have been excavated, including buildings from the Silla, Goryeo, and Joseon periods, and roof tiles engraved with "Jingusa." It turned out that the temple was built in the mid-7th century by monks Jeokmyeol and Uiyong, disciples of Baudeok, who moved south from Goguryeo. During the Goryeo Dynasty, it changed from Nirvana to Hwaeomjong, and in the seventh year of King Taejong's reign, it was designated as one of 88 Jabok temples of seven different sects across the country. Jingu Temple Site includes National treasures, tangible cultural heritages, and monuments of the Jeonbuk State, and other stone structures such as the Three-story Stone Pagoda and Seokhonggyo Bridge. However, since there is no record of Jingu Temple Site in other literature, including Imsil-eupji, after King Taejong's designation in the seventh year, it is presumed to have disappeared when the National Buddhist Organization was merged in the sixth year of King Sejong or disappeared due to fire or flood during the Imjin War. However, with the emergence of two types of Unsuji(1675, 1730) of Imsilhyeon during the Joseon Dynasty, Jingusa Temple was renamed Junggi Temple after the 7th year of King Taejong's reign, and it was operated for a certain period of time and died due to flooding. Also, the fact that there were two pagodas in the mid-Joseon Dynasty indicates that Jingusa Temple was a two-tower, one-hall garam, and a three-story pagoda without a pagoda body was expected to be able to find and restore another three-story pagoda. To this end, 17 three-story or unified Silla-era stone pagodas were extracted from the southern and northern regions of Jeolla Province, and as a result, the three-story Manboksa Temple Site was the only three-story stone pagoda of unknown origin. However, it was impossible to calculate the size of the pagoda body of the three-story Jingu Temple Pagoda because only three jade stone pagodas were stacked without a pagoda body. Therefore, compared to the 17 three-story stone pagodas in Jeolla Province, we were able to calculate the size of the pagoda body by considering the lateral length of each pagoda, the height of the pagoda body, the thickness and height of the pagoda body, and the width and height ratio of the pagoda body. In addition, the height of the stylobate and the size of the armor could be estimated through the two flagstones because four flagstones were formed like those of other three-story temples.
