The performativity of men and women shown in the movie <The Handmaiden> can be read from within the social background at that time. Men are " active actors " and women are " passive actors, " which lie at the lower level of the power structure. This layer of hierarchy is made possible by designing space for the imbalance between men and women in the movie of <The Handmaiden>. The movie, <The Handmaiden> is pursuing a forbidden desire in the social fabric through the vertical structure of the gender. It is emphasizing the self performing ability of a sexual identity, which it recognizes as its sex. The passive image of women decomposes the social concept of male centralism through homosexuality for a long time and wins the status of a gender. Director Park Chan-wook’s " Lady " has crossed the social norm of gender. Ask questions about human identity.
