During the Tang Dynasty, the compile method of Official dynastic histories had changed gradually――from personal-writing to official-writing. The literary criticism has also presented in two patterns――personal works or the instrument of social edification. The former brought originality and theoretical value to the literary criticism. Discuss these issues, we could find out the way how the official historian confirm the classical authors and works, and how to depict the track of parallel prose developing history. Furthermore, through related research, we could understand the development of parallel prose theory, and realize the significance of these biographies to the history of parallel prose theory.
Abstract
