Abstract
I. Novels in the late 1930’s & classic(or tradition) ; The purpose of this article is to analyze Lee’s antiquarianism and to analogize the results and limits of the late 1930’s novels. 2. Subjectified classics and aesthetic self-consciousness ; Lee didn’t derive to the insight and wisdom for life from the classics, but regarded it as an aesthetic objects. 3. Change of the subject and objectification of the classics ; Through Lee’s novel represent selfreflection, he secured the distance between classics and reality in the life. He realized classics as the means of criticizing the modernization under Japan empire was ruling. 4. The significance and limit of antiquarianism ; The significance of Lee‘s antiquarianism is criticizing snobberisrn and fetishism. But he didn’t derive to the wisdom of life from that.
