본 연구는 <사이버 소설에 나타난 미적 구조와 세계관 연구>라는 연구 과제 아래 사이버 소설에 나타난 욕망을 살펴본다. 그리고 사이버 소설에 나타난 욕망이 지니는 문학적 의미를 진단한다. 이 논문은 해체주의와 라캉의 욕망이론을 가지고 사이버소설에 나타난 욕망을 분석하였다. 그러므로 본 연구는 사이버 소설에 나타난 개인 또는 집단의 드러남과 감춰짐의 접점에 대한 고민을 통해 사회의 문화적 수준을 가늠할 뿐만 아니라 사이버 소설의 문학적 의미에 접근할 것이다. 사이버 소설에 나타난 욕망은 최첨단 과학 시대의 한 가운데 서서 사랑이나 우정이 삶의 잣대가 되는 새로운 세계로 이탈하고 있다. 여기에는 우리 시대의 집단 무의식이 현대 문명에 대해 비판적 시각을 가지고 있으며 인간 소통에 대한 열망이 담겨 있음을 보여준다. 이성적 또는 과학적으로 세계를 재단하고자 하는 것에 대한 해체의 전략이 숨어 있는 것이다. 우리 시대의 정신분열은 조화로운 인간관계를 더 이상 지탱할 수 없게 되자 드러나는 방어적 기제로서의 병리현상들이다. 집단적 무의식이 보여주는 우리의 욕망은 우리가 상호소통의 인간관계를 회복하고자 열망하고 있음을 단적으로 보여준다. 성 욕망이 단지 흥미 위주의 단발성을 드러내는 경우도 있지만 금기에 대한 해방구로서의 문화적 수위를 드러내고 있다. 제도권이 지니고 있었던 여러 권위나 윤리에 의해 위축되어 자신의 모습을 온전히 드러낼 수 없었던 여러 모습의 자아들이 노출을 하는 것이다. 다른 한편으로 성 쾌락은 요부 이미지를 지니면서 여성주의 입장으로 볼 때 긍정성을 획득한다. 여성이 성에 대해서 적극성을 띠는 경우, 남성 폭력에 대한 대항을 형성한다. 그 결과 사이버 소설은 남성중심주의와 가부장적 이데올로기에서 벗어나 정신적 또는 경제적으로 독립해나가는 여성의 진정성을 보여주기도 한다. 타자의 목소리에 귀기울이고 있는 것이다. 그러므로 사이버 소설에 나타난 욕망이 지니는 문학적 의미는 탈중심주의이며 우리에게 기대하는 것은 조화로운 삶의 방식인 것이다. 그러므로 현대 사회가 지니고 있는 과도한 지적 성장에 상응하는 내면적 성숙을 고려하고 기대하는 것은 우리 시대에 절대적으로 필요한 일이다.
Abstract
This study is about an aesthetic aspect and a world view shown in cyberspace novels. The study deals with sexual desire and its literary meaning in the novels. This study is based on ‘deconstruction theory’ and Jacques Lacan’s ‘desire theory’. Through the revealment and concealment of individual or mass desire, the literary meaning of cyberspace novels, as well as a cultural standard of a society, is presented in the novels. The desire in the cyberspace novels, amid an age of ultramodern technology, moves into the new world where love or friendship is a barometer of living. It means that our mass unconsciousness criticizes modern civilization and longs for human communication. The strategy of deconstruction, which intends to make the world rational and technical, is planned in the novels. Split personality of this period is a sort of a pathologic state as a protective element, resulting from no more harmonious human relationship. The desire, through mass unconscousness, tells that we long to recover our communicative relationship. Sexual desire not only attracts our interest but also shows the cultural aspect against sexual taboo. The characters, who suffered from the oppression of strict authority and morality, come to reveal their true beings. On the other hand, sexual enjoyment contains the image of enchantress and shows the positive aspect from an angle of feminism. When female is active in sexuality, it means confrontation against violence of male. Actually, cyberspace novels show spiritual and financial independence of women, who decide to secede from the malecentered society and the patriarchal ideology. It is because women listen to others’ opinions. In conclusion, the message of the desire in cyberspace novels is to point to the world of harmony and concord. It is vital for us to look forward to inner or personal maturity corresponding to quantitative ex- pansion and intelligent growth of the modern society.
