1990년대 초 문예지의 ‘통일’ 담론과 북한문학 전유방식 비판 : 북한 문예지 『조선문학』과의 매체사적 대화

Abstract

This study critically analyzed the “unification” discourse and the introduction of North Korean literary works published in literary magazines in the early 1990’s. In this study, we put together the unification discourses and methods for introduction of North Korean literatures unveiled in quarterly magazines such as Creation and Critic(『창작과비평』), Silcheon Literature(『실천문학』), Green Bean Flower(『녹두꽃』) & Nodutdol(『노둣돌』) published in 1988∼1993. Moreover, comparative analyses were conducted on how the Joseon Literature(『조선문학』), a North Korean literary magazine, introduced the discourses and South Korean literature in its own way in relation to the unification discourse during the same period. The results showed that the literary works of the counterparty countries were introduced intensively only in that period as part of unification throughout the 7-decade long division of the country. It was found that many efforts were made at the same time for unification, such as exchange of authors and joint creativion of literary works to be published in literary magazines of South Korea and North Korea in the same period. That is considered significant from cultural and political aspects for unification of literature. However, it may also be the evidence showing that the literature or literary magazines were used for hegemony struggle by the litterateurs of South Korea and North Korea for unification on their own terms in the process of aesthetic autonomy related to unification discourses. In conclusion, the enthusiasm was dissipated and discourses of unification almost disappeared due to disillusionment with Marxism introduced in the South Korean literature field and adverse effect of Juche ideology and personal worship which were revealed by the movement to understand the North Korea correctly.
