Abstract
This paper aims to examine a dimension of dialectical development of the form and content of Korean yumoa-myeongrang sosul genealogically. This was the first to take root at Gyeongseong in the 1930s under the name of "yumoa sosul", as a sub-genre of urban mass literature, harvesting the daily affluence and relaxation of middle-class suburban culture. In the post-liberation U.S. military era, it was enjoyed in a superficial, imaginative way of deviance and relaxation lost by urban dwellers, riding on the short-sighted cultural policy that excluded the authorities and reproduced explosively amid the hospitality and recovery of urban culture in Seoul, which was accompanied by the nation's re-development project after the cease-fire period. The structure of feeling of urban culture with the form of yumoa-myeongrang sosuls served as the basis for the one of the first urban cultural trend of Americanization age in the late 1950s. However, this trend quickly withered; those who can not enjoy colonial urban culture have emerged as new-subjects in urban culture in Korea.
