Abstract
This study was conducted to review the policy justification and social acceptance of resolving the dualized structure of the Department of Biomedical Laboratory Science and promote the unification into a standardized four-year interdisciplinary system. A largescale survey was administered to students (1,654), professors (235), parents (343), and representatives from industry (1,227). The survey findings revealed a very high level of agreement on the necessity of unification, with students (96.61%), professors (98.72%), parents (95.04%), and industry (97.47%). In particular, the industry sector strongly emphasized the need for a four-year system to cultivate precision medical professionals capable of responding to the rapidly evolving healthcare environment. The key areas of demand included digital healthcare innovation and infectious disease diagnostics. Beyond professional training, the unification was evaluated as a critical national strategy, strengthening educational linkages, improving efficiency in academic and career development, enhancing administrative and financial systems, and generating social and economic ripple effects. Ultimately, the unification of the four-year system is expected to serve as an important foundation for policy formulation, establishing a sustainable healthcare training system that enhances expertise, strengthens public trust in medical technologists, and helps promote national health.
