초록

Human rights have undergone a wild process to be written and be practiced legally in human societies. The history of rights has a noticeable relationship with Christianity and Christian thoughts although Christian theology, thoughts, and spirituality are not the main factors that made the rights visible and valid. Some Christian groups and individuals fought for democracy and rights especially during the Cold War while Christianity has been the strongest friend of the powers and the privileged throughout history. Christian churches still practice discrimination against people who have different origins and orientations of various kinds. This study suggests that Christians should consider seeing the image of God in others as their new spiritual goal for their spiritual practice as the image of God in others has not been recognized by Christians for a long time and that actualizing the image of Jesus in Christians in societies as another spiritual goal for their spiritual practices. This study asks: Can Christians renounce their freedom and rights for others as Christians have done this for their spiritual goals?
