요한복음서의 영광에 대한 주요 연구동향과 사회학적 재해석

본 논문의 목적은 요한복음서의 영광 단락에 대한 연구동향을 분석하고, 사회학적 재해석을 통하여 상호영광 단락이 함의하고 있는 요한공동체의 사회적 정황을 도출하고, ‘인자의 상호 영광’이 요한공동체내에서 어떠한 사회적 기능을 수행하는지를 고찰하려는 데 있다. 본논문의 연구방법론은 신약성경의 각 텍스트가 그 텍스트를 산출한 해당 공동체의 사회적 세계를 반영한다는 지식사회학의 방법을 활용하는사회학적 분석을 포함한다. 인자이신 예수는 죽음을 두려워하지 않고죽음의 길을 기꺼이 걸어가심으로써 인자와 하나님의 상호 영광을 이룬다(요 13:31). 그러나 요한기자는 인자의 상호 영광에 머물지 않고,인자의 상호 영광을 요한공동체의 상호 영광으로 옮기고 있다(17:22). “내게 주신 영광(인자의 상호 영광)을 내가 저희에게 주었사오니(요한공동체의 상호 영광) 이는 우리가 하나가 된 것같이 저희도 하나가 되게 하려 함이니이다”(17:22). 요한의 예수에게 주어진 영광은 인자의상호 영광이다. 예수는 자신을 보내신 자인 하나님의 영광을 구함으로자신도 영광을 얻는다(5:41, 44; 7:18). 그리고 죽음을 두려워하지 않음으로(12:42-3) 자신을 보내신 자인 하나님을 세상 가운데서 드러내었고, ‘사람의 영광’보다 ‘하나님의 영광’을 더 사랑함으로 인자의 상호영광을 이루었다. 이처럼, 하나님이 예수에게 주었던 상호 영광은 이제예수가 제자들에게, 즉 요한공동체에게 주고 있다. 이 영광을 받은 요한공동체 멤버들은 마땅히 그들을 보내신 하나님이신 예수의 영광을구하여야 한다(17:10; 5:44; 14:31 참조). 또한, 요한공동체 멤버들은죽음을 두려워하지 않고 세상 가운데서 기꺼이 죽음으로(15:13) 자기들을 보내신 자인 예수를 세상에 알려야 한다(13:35 참조). 그러므로요한기자가 복음서에서 인자의 상호 영광을 강조하고 있는 궁극적인이유는 예수가 하나님의 아들, 하나님이라는 고등 기독론을 드러내는것에만 있는 것이 아님을 알 수 있다. 왜냐하면, 요한기자는 그 무엇보다도 요한공동체의 인자의 상호 영광을 통해서 공동체가 당면한 위기앞에서 ‘죽음의 합법화’를 이루려 하였기 때문이다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to find the major study trends on the Glory in the Gospel of John in order to reinterpret it in a sociological aspect. Furthermore, it is to induce the social situation of the Johannine community that is under-toned in the paragraph of mutual glory, and to see what kind of social functions the ‘mutual glory of the Son of Man’ conducted in the Johannine community. The methodology of this study involves a sociological analysis employing a method of the sociology of knowledge with an assumption that each text of the New Testament reflects the social world of the community that produced its own document. The Son of Man ‘Jesus’ realize the mutual glory between the Son of Man(Jesus) and God by willingly walking the path of death without fearing death(John 13:31). However, John wrote ‘the mutual glory of the Son of Man’ as ‘the mutual glory of Johannine community’ instead of staying in ‘the mutual glory of the Son of Man’(Jn 17:22): “I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one”. The glory that was given to John’s Jesus was the mutual glory of Son of Man. Jesus got glory by asking for it from God who sent him(Jn 5:41, 44; 7:18). He revealed God to the world by not fearing death(Jn 12:42-43) and he realized the mutual glory of the Son of Man by raising ‘God’s glory’ over ‘man’s glory’. Likewise, Jesus gave his mutual glory to his disciples, which means John's community. The members of Johannine community who received this glory needed to chase after the glory of Jesus, who was God(cf. Jn 17:10; 5:44; 14:31). Also the members of Johannine community needed to reveal Jesus, who sent them(cf. Jn 13:35), to the world by not fearing of death and by willingly sacrificing themselves(Jn 15:13). Therefore, the reason why John emphasized ‘the mutual glory for the Son of Man’ was not just to reveal high Christology, which says that Jesus is the Son of God and is therefore God. It was because John tried to legitimate the death in front of the danger that the community had, through ‘the mutual glory of the Son of Man’.
