본논문은, 정치신학의담론속에서왜성서가중요한지를발견해냄으로써 성서와 정치의 상관관계를 살펴보고, 이를 근거로 성서 속에나타나는주된정치사상을신약과구약으로구분지어각각개괄적으로살펴본후이를서로비교해봄으로써, 궁극적으로는구약과신약을정치신학이라는안목속에서합리적으로연결시켜보려고시도한다. 방법론에 있어서 성서의 정치 신학이라는 큰 범주를 보다 구체적으로 다루기위해서, 본논문은구약에서의정치신학을‘야훼의정치’로정의내리는한편, 신약에서의 정치 신학을 ‘예수의 정치’로 정의내린 후, 각각의정치신학적 내용의 공통점과 차이점을 서로비교분석해 본다. 이러한비교분석의방법론적틀속에서도출되는신학적담론의결과가있다면,이는야훼의정치로대변되는구약정치신학의핵심내용이‘하나님의통치’인 반면, 예수의 정치로 대변되는 신약 정치 신학의 핵심 내용은‘하나님의 나라’라는 사실이다. 이 양자는 각자의 전달하려는 정치적내용에있어서는서로 구별되는 한편, 그 정치신학적바탕이 종교적인차원으로부터시작되지만그선포되는메시지의방향은다분히정치적이라는 측면에서 서로 깊이 연결되고 있다.
