초록
Eucharist has been regarded as a very crucial element in both theological theme and the actual worship services in Christian history because eucharistic change offers the belief of the presence of Christ for Christians. Within Christian eucharistic service, Christians have believed that they could participate in the mystic experience of transformation from the bread and wine to the flesh and blood of Christ. Many theologians and Christian ministers have tried to explain this mystic ritual in the environment of heresies, persecutions, and philosophical positions. In this essay, I deal with a brief history regarding the development of theological implications focused on eucharistic change in early Christianity, describing the most distinctive theologians’ perspectives of eucharistic change or particular eucharistic prayer, which describe the theological implications of eucharistic change throughout the early Christian history. Those theologians are Ignatius of Antioch, Justin Martyr, Irenaeus of Lyon, the Anaphora of John Chrysostom, Cyril of Jerusalem, Clement of Alexandria, Ambrose of Milan, and Augustine of Hippo. Then, finally, I summarize this research and conclude my discussion about the development of eucharistic change in early Christian church.
