교회 역사는 분열의 역사임과 동시에 교회의 일치와 하나된 그리스도의몸을 회복하기 위한 에큐메니즘의 역사였다. 교회의 하나됨에 대한 기대와열망은 신약성서와 초기교회 성만찬 예전 속에 담겨졌다. 예수는 공생애동안 반복된 식탁 공동체를 통해 하나님 나라 잔치의 비전인 에큐메니즘을선포하고 실현하였다. 유대 사회에서 억압받고 무시당하던 이방인들과 사회적 소외 계층을 식탁 한 가운데로 초대했던 예수의 식사 모범은 교회가 나아가야 할 에큐메니즘의 방향성을 제시해준다. 바울에게 성만찬에서 주님의몸을 분별함의 의미는 주님의 식탁 앞에서 모든 성도가 그리스도의 한 몸을이루고 있으며, 한 지체들임을 인식하는 것이었다. 만일 성만찬에서 누군가소외나 차별을 받아 교회의 공동체성이 파괴된다면, 그것은 주님의 성찬이아닐 뿐만 아니라, 죄를 짓는 것이며, 심판을 먹고 마시는 것이다 (고전11:27-29). 초기교회는 성찬을 행할 때마다 우주적, 종말론적 교회의 하나됨을 소망하며 기도했다. 성찬 기도문의 내용과 형식은 시대의 흐름과 함께변해갔지만, 성찬을 통해 교회일치의 완성을 갈망했던 에큐메니즘의 정신은그들의 기도문 속에 깊이 뿌리 내리고 있었다. 성만찬적 에큐메니즘은 획일적인 통합의 방식이 아닌 다름의 독특성을 포용하고 다양성에 대한 인식을기반으로 한다.
Abstract
Church always has been repeating the process of division and ecumenism. Even though the church was divided for political, regional and dogmatic reasons, it continued in restoring one body of Christ and the unity of churches. Jesus proclaimed and realized ecumenism in the vision of the banquet in the kingdom of God through the continuous meal practices. The meal practice in which Jesus invited the neglected and oppressed amongst the Jewish society, suggests the way ecumenism should be today. For paul, “discerning the body” in the eucharist meant all participants recognize that they are of one body and a member of Christ in front of the Lord’s table. If church unity is destroyed by alienating or discriminating a member at the Lord’s supper, then it is not the eucharist but eating the judgement on themselves, guilty of sinning against the body and blood of the Lord (1 Cor 11:27-29). Whenever the eucharist was held, the early church prayed for the eschatological unity of the universal church. As time passed, the contents and forms of the eucharistic prayer have changed, but ecumenism was deeply rooted in their eucharistic anaphora. The foundation of the eucharistic ecumenism is not the pursuit of uniformity, but the recognition of diversity and the inclusion of otherness.
