국가인권위는 ‘대학채플’이 ‘종교전파를 위한 종파교육이며, 학생의 ‘종교자유를 침해하는 것’이라고 판단했다. 이것은 더이상 채플이 종교전파만을 위한 종파교육이어서는 안되며, ‘보다 세련되고 수준 있는’ 종교교양교육이어야 한다는 시대적인 요청으로 이해해야 할 것이다. 대학채플은 그 자체로 교육의 목적과 목표들을 가지고 있다. 그리고 그것은 고유한 방법론과 내용, 그리고 평가체계를 갖춘 대학교양교육의 한 과목이다. 이제 대학채플은 공급자 중심의 교육 틀을 벗어나서, 채플 수용자의 눈높이나 사회적 변화, 그리고 교육환경의 변화를 제대로 담아내는 새로운 틀이 필요하다. 그 하나의 대안이 바로 ‘글로벌 트랜드와 헌신채플 모형’이다. ‘트렌드 채플’은 글로벌 트렌드에 초점을 맞추어 소개하고, 성경을 통하여 그 의미를 해석하고, 디자인과의 대화 가능성을 넓혀서 학생들에게 기독교적 세계관을 교육하는 것이다. ‘헌신채플’은 ‘피교육자의 참여에 의한 교육 프로그램’이다. ‘글로벌 트랜드와 헌신채플’은 국가인권위원회의 권고의 파장으로 위기를 맞고 있는 대학채플의 방향과 관련하여 제시된 하나의 대응전략이며, 종교교양교육인 대학채플의 한 모델이다.
Abstract
The National Human Rights Commission of Korea judged that ‘University Chapel’ is ‘sect education for the propagation of religion and violates the freedom of religion of students’. This should be understood as a request of the times that chapels should no longer be sectarian education solely for the propagation of religion, but should be ‘more sophisticated and high-quality’ religious liberal arts education. The university chapel has its own educational goals and objectives. And it is a subject of university education with its own methodology, content, and evaluation system. Now, university chapels need a new framework that properly captures the needs of chapel recipients, social changes, and changes in the educational environment, beyond the provider-centered educational framework. One alternative is the 'global trend and dedication chapel model'. ‘Trend Chapel’ aims to educate students on a Christian worldview by focusing on global trends, interpreting their meaning through the Bible, and expanding the possibility of dialogue with design. ‘Dedicated Chapel’ is an ‘educational program through the participation of trainees’. ‘Global Trend and Devotion Chapel’ is a response strategy suggested in relation to the direction of the university chapel, which is facing a crisis due to the wave of recommendations from the National Human Rights Commission, and is a model of the university chapel, which is a religious liberal arts education.
