This research begins from the social symptom that Korean college students have felt suicidal due partly to the stress of competition in searching for jobs or occupations. The research equipped with two types of educational model within Paulo Freire’s concept of critical pedagogy: banking model and problem-posing model. The problem-posing model is suggested as an alternative to reformulate college education and class formation since it equips them with critical consciousness by embracing their experiences, discovering, analyzing and resolving their own problems. The research claims that spirituality can direct daily living of college students that consistently exemplify self-integration, which is holistic, involving physical, psychological, and social aspects of the individual, bringing all aspects of life together in relation to others in his or her world. Noting the spirituality of education can be epitomized by “scared encounters,” it introduces the concept of three “sacred encounters” as a way to redirect and renew the pedagogical approach in a college class.
