현대 사회에서 ESG의 가치 실현에 대한 관심이 높아지고 있다. ‘ESG’는 경영학에서 파생된 용어로 기업이 지속가능한 성장을 위해 이윤창출을 위하여 재무재표 외적으로 지켜야 할 3가지 중요한 가치들의 알파벳 머리글자인 E, S, G를 따서 만든 신조어이다. E는 환경을 의미하는 단어 environment에서, S는 사회를 의미하는 social이란 단어에서, G는 합리적인 지배구조를 의미하는 governance라는 단어에서 따온 것이다. ESG는 기업의 경영 뿐 아니라 우리가 살고 있는 사회의 전반에 걸쳐 중요한 이슈로 대두되고 있다. 많은 기업들이 ESG적 가치를 표방하는 경영을 내세우고 있기에 취업을 위한 교육과정에서도 이 가치들을 배우고 실천하는 과정이 중요하게 여겨진다. 본 논문은 기독교가 이러한 가치를 어떻게 예배를 통해 확립할 수 있는가에 대한 연구이다. 본 논문을 연구하면서 필자는 다음과 같은 결론을 내리게 되었다: ESG적 가치를 추구하는 예배는 이 땅에서 하나님 나라를 실현하는 예배이고 하나님 나라로 향하게 하는 통로이다. 이 연구는 다음과 같은 순서로 진행되었다. I장은 논문에 대한 소개와 논문의 내용을 간략하게 기술하였다. II장에서는 이 분야에 관한 선행 연구들과 연구 가설 그리고 주요 방법론들을 제시하였다. III장에서는 ESG와 기독교의 관계를 고찰하였다. 이 장에서는 특히 20세기 말에 대두된 JPIC운동의 주장들과 ESG적 가치의 유사점을 비교하면서 기독교와의 연관성을 주장했다. IV장에서는 ESG적 가치를 추구하는 예배를 구성하게 위한 방법과 실례들을 기술하였다. 특히 환경을 지키려는 E적 가치, 사회적 정의를 실현하는 S적 가치, 그리고 공정한 구조를 강조하는 G적 가치를 적용하는 예배와 이를 위한 방법들을 제시하였다. 마지막으로 V장에서는 전체적인 논문의 요약과 함께 ESG적 예배를 위한 첨언들을 더하였다.
Abstract
In contemporary society, interest in realizing the value of ESG is increasing. “ESG” is a term derived from business administration and is a new word coined after the alphabetical acronyms E, S, and G, which are three important values that a company must protect externally for profit creation for sustainable growth. E is derived from the word environment, S is derived from the word social, and G is derived from the word governance, which means rational governance. ESG is emerging as an important issue for corporate management and the entire society in which we live. Since many companies have put forward management that advocates ESG values, the process of learning and practicing these values is also important in the curriculum for employment. This paper studies how Christianity can establish these values through worship. While studying this paper, I came to the following conclusion: Christian worship pursues ESG values that realize the Kingdom of God in this land and a passage toward the Kingdom of God. This study was conducted in the following order. Section I briefly describes the introduction of the thesis and the contents of the thesis. Section II presents previous studies, research hypotheses, and major methodologies in this field. Section III examines the relationship between ESG and Christianity. In this section, I deal with the claims of the JPIC movement emerged at the end of the 20th century. In addition, the similarities of ESG values were compared to JPIC issues, arguing for its connection to Christianity. Section IV describes methods and examples for constructing Christian worship services that pursue ESG values. In particular, worship that applies the E-value to protect the environment, the S-value to realize social justice, and the G-value to emphasize a fine structure, and methods for this were presented. Finally, section V summarizes the overall paper and additional comments on ESG worship.
