한국전쟁기 여성문인들의 반공서사 연구 －모윤숙과 최정희를 중심으로－

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to make track for where and how the women writers who remain in Seoul go through 3 months of the occupation period of the Communist at the beginning of the Korean War and investigate the influence of the sufferings such as fear and famine on their lives and works after that time. This ‘90 days of sufferings’, in spite of only 3 months, influences on ‘collective original experience’ which comes to constitute the basis of South Korean social order and contributes to the stability of anti-Communism and nationalism as the ruling ideology in South Korea. Mo Yun Suk who hides herself as a member of remainder group and Choi Jong Hee who is put to compulsory labor respectively publish ‘sufferings record’, calling their personal experience and reconstructing it as public discourse. There is a difference between Mo Yun Suk’s sufferings record where writer sets importance on presenting a terrible sight of sufferings vividly focusing the directness of the experience itself and Choi Jong Hee's one where writer's psychological condition under the sufferings runs parallel with her sense of expiation. The difference, I think, is caused by the existence or nonexistence of compulsory labor. That’s because even remainder group, in case of hiding oneself not laboring compulsorily, gains a moral advantage in ideology. After all, they are cured from past scar and return to literary circles by printing the works where they report the terrible sight of their sufferings and reflect on their compulsory labor. They reproduce the experience of '90 days of sufferings’ whatever a genre such as poem, novel, and essay referring it to public opinion and come to life again as anti-Communist reliving the lesson by the experience. Under this process, they eventually get born again into ‘a member of nation’ from ‘an individual’.
