초록
『The Idiot』 was a novel well known for Dostoevsky's intention to make a hero like Christ and Don Quixote. So a lot of researchers are interested in Myshkin's image and have tried to find the parallel between Christ and Myshkin. In this paper a researcher stresses that not only Myshkin's memory(‘sensory memory’) and experience in Swiss, but also his way of seeing are related to the his tragic life: he could not rescue Nastas'ia Fillipovna from Rogozhin and his epilepsy recurred. Indeed, Myshkin wanted to meet russian people and find their faiths in russian reality. In spite of his trial and hope, he was frustrated because he remembered his past lives in Swiss and they kept him from finding 'goodness' in russians. In this way Myshkin's sense of life and musing on life derive not from his past experience, but from an immediate perception of world and man. After all, Myshkin realized that russian faith can be seen not through symbol(for example, cross) of reality, but in their minds. That is the way Dostoevsky shows the imperfect 'russian Christ', Myshkin as ‘Homo Opticus’ and ‘Homo Memoris’.
