기형도 시에 나타난 ‘부유(浮遊)’ 연구

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to see the main characteristic of Gi Hyeong-do’s poems as ‘floatation’ and examine how the compositions and messages are oriented toward ‘floatation’. Also, this author intends to develop the discussion in an inductive manner to derive general characteristics by analyzing Gi Hyeong-do’s poems internally as much as possible. First of all, grounded on Gi Hyeong-do’s ‘start memos’ or ‘writer’s messages’, this study has proven through work analysis that his poems embody the image of ‘floatation’ around the two axes of ‘distance’ and ‘weather’. The background of ‘streets (the city)’ and ‘weather (snow)’ is overlapped with the foreground of individuals who fail to settle in the world due to industrialization and urbanization, thus creating the effect of highlighting their ‘floatation’. In addition, the division of space, ‘sky-air-ground’, can be understood as a poetic strategy to reveal that they are located in the coordinates of alienation for not belonging to anywhere. Meanwhile, individuals found in Gi Hyeong-do’s poems are also projected in the forms of outsiders or intellectuals. Here, ‘the floatation of language’ found in individuals as intellectuals is characterized as ‘something unspeakable’, that is, ‘hesitation’, and this is revealed in the poems through ‘silence’ or ‘the tongue’ and ‘hands’. Consequently, ‘the floatation of language’ can be seen as the result of meta-reflection on the practice of such acts as ‘speaking’ and ‘writing’ in the face of the world’s negativity. Here, the composition of multilayered voices and the ambiguous identification of speakers are also another aspect in which the floating language gets concretized. In short, the mise-en-scénes of Gi Hyeong-do’s poems embody ‘floatation’, and those floating landscapes and languages function as a crucial strategy to construct his poetic messages.
