Abstract
Woobok(愚伏) Chong Kyeong-Se(鄭經世) responded positively on much poems that Changsok(蒼石) Lee Joon(李埈) had sent to him. This was a special example with composition of Korean-Chinese poems. He advised critically on central theme and details of works, influence on readers and Confucian mental cultivation by letters. Especially he advised that Changsok had to write poems on the viewpoint of Confucian philosophy depart from that of a man of letters. And following such advise Changsok elaborated his poems a little, or discussed repeatedly with Woobok. Like this, the case that a man who had received another person's poems responded positively was uncommon in poets society from students of Chiniese classics. This fact is had to admitted once. And we must pay attention to the fact that some view which had laid in the letters showed level of expert critic, and by following it a poet modified a draft of poem, or he suffered on modification it. Especially Woobok pointed out a porture of a Confucian poet should differ from that of a man of letters. Such point of view can not be passed over by reason of connecting composition of poems with the cultivation of character directly. It should be unusual that a writer had some discussion with another man in the process of completing Korean-Chinese poems. Furthermore it should be more rare that a writer completed poems by reference to the viewpoint taking delivery of letters after sending a draft to any friend. In this point the case between Woobok and Changsok has a significance on such problem.
