유초등 다문화 교수학습법 모색: telecollaboration을 중심으로

초록

본 연구는 우리나라 다문화교육이 시작된 이래 현장 에 도입된 다문화교수학습법의 현황과 문제점을 파악한 후, 유초등 발달에 적합한 참여적 특징을 지닌 동시에 기존 국가교육과정 안에서 적용이 가능한 새로운 다문화 교수학습법의 모색을 목적으로 하였다. 이를 위해 최근 교육관계자들에게 주목을 받고 있는 telecollaboration을 다문화 교수학습법의 한 대안으로 소개하고 그의 현장적용가능성을 가늠해보았다. 논의순서는 다음과 같다. 먼저 우리나라 다문화교육, 특히 교수학습법을 중심으로 한 현황과 문제점을 밝혀내고, 이어서 기존방법에 대한 대안으로 telecollaboration을 소개하고 전반적 특징에 대해 살펴보았다. 셋째, 다문화교육 혹은 상호문화간 역량 면에서 그 의미를 짚어보았으며, 마지막으로 우리나라 유초등 다문화 교수학습법으로서의 telecollaboration의 가능성을 가늠해본 후 적용에 앞서 선행될 과제를 살펴보는 것으로 결론을 맺었다. 본 연구는 교육과정 외 프로그램 혹은 특정대상이나 주제를 중심으로 단편적으로 진행되는 우리나라 다문화 교수학습법의 제한점을 극복하고 다양한 교수학습방안 개발을 촉진시키는데 기여할 것으로 기대된다.

Abstract

This study aims to point out the current problems of muticultural education in early and primary classrooms in terms of teaching-learning method and propose an alternative way, so called telecollaboration, to foster children’s intercultural competence. Telecollaboration or teleollaborative learning has recently been introduced in English language teaching. And it is defined the use of online communication tools to bring together language learners in different countries for the development of collaborative project work(O’Dowd, 2006). It has been proven beneficial not only to language learning but also to intercultural competence of young learners from a variety of literature. This paper contours the definition, nature, charactersitiscs, and benefits of telecollaboration in addition to its possibility of classroom application in order to examine its potentials for multicultural or intercultural education in early and primary classrooms.
