포토보이스를 활용한 중독내러티브 탐구 -알코올중독을 중심으로

본 연구의 목적은 포토보이스를 활용하여 중독과 회복의 의미와 내러티브 구성과정을 조사하는 것이다. 이를 위해 2018년 7월부터 알코올중독 회복자를 포함한 9인이 참가하는 포토보이스를 5회 진행하였고, 이 과정에서 생성된 중독내러티브를 질적연구방법으로 분석하였다. 연구결과 확인된 중독의 의미는 ‘채우고 싶어 매달리다 바닥까지 떨어졌다’이며, 회복의 의미는 ‘사람을 의지하여 세상 속으로 들어오다’이다. 중독 내러티브 구성과정에서 중독에 대한 두 개의 의미가 연속적인 하나의 이야기로 통합되고, 중독을 객관적 정보 대신 특정한 사람의 이야기로 이해하고, 회복자와 비회복자의 소통 및 자기성찰과 역량 강화가 확인되었다. 이를 바탕으로 중독자와 지역사회를 연결하는 방법론으로 포토보이스의 활용가능성을 확인하고, 이를 위한 제안을 하였다.
Abstract
This study attempted to explore the meaning of addiction and recovery from addiction through photovoice, while identifying the process of narrative construction of the participants. Five photovoice sessions were conducted with nine participants including participants who recovered from alcohol addiction. The sessions started in July 2018. Addiction narratives were generated through this process and analyzed through qualitative research. The meaning of addiction identified was “I tried to fill, but fell down to the bottom,” and the meaning of recovery was “to enter the world by relying on people.” The process of constructing addiction narratives promoted two meanings of addiction to be integrated into one continuous story. And the addiction narrative was understood as the co-constructing story of a specific person, not just something about the information of objective facts. It also confirmed that communication between alcoholics and non-alcoholics was possible, and self-reflection and empowerment among participants increased. Based on this, I confirmed the possibility of photovoice as a methodology for linking the alcoholics with community, and made some suggestion.
