초록

The purpose of this study is to identify the influence of sociocultural attitudes towards appearance, public self-consciousness, and body satisfaction on the abnormal eating behavior of adolescents. The subjects were 450 students attended the second grades of middle and high schools in Daegu. Questionnaires, which required self-report by the subjects were used to investigate sociocultural attitudes towards appearance, public self-consciousness, body satisfaction and abnormal eating behavior of adolescents. The collected data were analyzed by Structural Equation Modeling(SEM), Bootstrapping, Pearson Correlation, by the use of AMOS 10.0, and SPSS 21.0. Results were obtained using the Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) and they are as follows 1) The sociocultural attitudes towards appearance and body satisfaction influenced directly on abnormal eating behavior of adolescents, but public self-consciousness not. 2) The sociocultural attitudes towards appearance and public self-consciousness influenced directly body satisfaction. 3) The sociocultural attitudes towards appearance and public self-consciousness influenced indirectly on abnormal eating behavior by body satisfaction. In conclusion, the sociocultural attitudes towards appearance and body satisfaction should be considered to establish the healthy eating behavior of adolescents.
