기존 학교의 지원체제로서의 초·중등 사이버학교 도입에 대한 인식 조사 연구

본 연구는 기존 학교의 지원체제로서의 사이버학교의 도입을 제안하고, 수용자의 관점에서 그 실현가능성을 모색해보았다. 이를 위해, 학생, 교사, 학부모를 대상으로 국내 사이버학교체제 도입에 대한 그들의 인식 및 요구를 알아보기 위한 설문조사를 실시하였다. 응답자 수는 학생 1,840명, 교사 151명, 학부모 402명으로, 총 2,393명이었다. 조사 결과, 사이버 초등학교 도입에 대해서는 학생, 교사, 학부모 모두 반대하는 비율이 높았으나, 학교급이 높아질수록 모든 집단이 공통적으로 초등학교<중학교<고등학교의 순으로 찬성하는 비율이 점차적으로 높아지는 것으로 나타났다. 또한, 전반적으로 교사나 학부모들은 학생들에 비해 사이버학교체제 도입에 대해 덜 긍정적인 반응을 보였으나, 학교지원형에 대한 선호는 교사와 학부모 집단에서 두드러지게 나타났다. 이는 사이버학교체제가 기존 학교를 도와 다양한 선택과목의 개설, 기존 학교교육만으로는 길러주기 어려운 자기주도적인 학습능력의 배양 등에 초점을 맞추어 도입 및 운영된다면 교사와 학부모들의 적극적인 지지를 받을 수 있음을 시사해주고 있다. 본 연구는 초중등 사이버학교 도입을 위한 현재의 물적 기반 구비와 그에 따른 사회적 인식 변화에 대한 이 연구결과를 토대로, 기존 학교의 지원체제로서 정규 사이버수업을 전문적으로 담당하는 사이버학교체제를 제도적으로 도입하는 것이 바람직하다는 결론을 내렸다.
Abstract
This study was conducted in order to propose the idea of implementing the cyber school at the elementary and secondary level. Good examples of cyber schools in other countries indicated that cyber schools could be of great support to conventional schools when they are run as a support system for conventional schools. In this respect, a questionnaire survey was conducted to 1,840 students, 151 teachers, and 402 parents in order to find out their attitudes and needs about the cyber school. The findings of the study showed that regarding the elementary school level, students, teachers, and parents showed somewhat negative attitudes about the establishment of cyber school. However, their attitudes gradually became positive as the school level increased. It could be also noteworthy that teachers and parents showed their favor toward the 'school-support' type of the cyber school. In other words, students, teachers, and parents all agree that cyber school should supplement, rather than replace, conventional schools. It can be concluded that now we should consider how to implement the cyber school in order to supplement conventional schools.
