학교중심 교육과정은 결정적으로 교사에 의해 재구성되는 교육과정이다. 교육과정 편성과 운영에 있어서 현장의 자율성 확대를 강조하는 제7차 교육과정은 지리 교사들로 하여금 학교중심 교육과정을 편성ㆍ운영할 수 있는 전문적인 역량을 요구하는 교육과정이라는 점에서 지리교육적 논의가 필요하다. 교사에 의한 교육과정 재구성은 교육 내용의 적합성을 높이기 위한 활동으로서 교사들로 하여금 자율성 신장과 반성적 의사결정자로서의 역할을 과거의 그 어느 때보다도 더 체계적이고 전문적으로 수행할 것을 요구한다. 이에 본 연구에서는 학교중심 지리교육과정을 개발하는데 필요한 기본적인 과정으로 교육과정 재구성의 틀을 고찰하였다. 특히 본 연구에서는 학교중심 교육과정에 대한 논의들이 교육과정의 편성ㆍ운영에 대한 의사결정구조 측면을 강조하고 있기 때문에, 지역적 차원의 다양한 특수성을 교육과정에 반영하여 학습자의 필요와 흥미에 따른 교육 내용의 적합성을 제고하는데 초점을 두었다. 이러한 관점을 바탕으로 학교중심 지리교육과정을 재구성하기 위한 틀은 지리교육과정 개발의 원리와 과정 모형, 그리고 학습자중심의 지리교육과정과 세계적 이슈를 중심으로 한 단원 계획의 과정으로 구성하였다.
Abstract
This paper investigates how to reconstruct school-based curriculum from the 7th curriculum into the school-based geography curriculum frameworks under the trends towards decentralization in schooling and increases in teacher autonomy. The school-based curriculum is increasingly in 7th curriculum. Ultimately, the quality of education offered and the objectives achieved depend primarily on the way in which teachers implement these guidelines within their own schools and classroom - that is, it depends on their professional expertise, reflective decisions and autonomy. It is important to provide school-based geography curriculum frameworks. To provide the processes of reconstructing curriculum by teachers, the school-based geography curriculum frameworks, that is 'process model', 'learner-centered course', 'global Issues-centered instruction' were outlined. Global Issues can work on various geographical levels-personal, local, regional, national and global. Global Issues are useful in planning of the scope of unit. Global issues-entered approaches to geography curriculum offer insightful suggestions for how the classroom teacher should handle geography.
