본 연구는 2015 개정 초등 사회과 교육과정 개발에 참여한 연구진의 자전적 관점에서 지리 영역 교육과정 개발의 과정을 반성적으로 고찰하고, 향후 교육과정 개정에 대한 시사점을 모색하기 위한 것이다. 구체적으로는 초등 사회과 지리 영역을 중심으로 내용 체계의 정립 과정, 성취 기준의 설정 과정과 그에 따른 교수·학습 및 평가 방법의 상세화 과정, 그리고 지리 과목의 하위 내용 영역 및 핵심 개념 선정 과정 등을 고찰하였다. 특히, 초등 사회과 지리 영역 교육과정 개발의 핵심인 성취 기준에는 위치 학습의 강화, 지리 미디어(Geo-media) 수단의 활용 능력 제고, 지역 규모에서의 중심지 이해, 장소감 개념의 도입, 인간-환경 간의 관계 이해 강화 등이 반영되도록 의도하였다.
Abstract
This article aims to study reflectively the development processes and main characteristics of the 2015 geography national curriculum for elementary school from the autobiographical viewpoint of the researchers, and to provide implications for geography educators. The study focused on the development processes of system of contents, achievement standards, and sub-domains and key concepts in the elementary geography curriculum. Especially it were emphasized location learning, practical use of Geo-media, central places in regional scale, sense of place, human-environment relationships in achievement standards.
