Abstract

Even Mathematically Gifted Students have much difficulties in dealing with probability because of its vagueness in random context. This study discovered that analogical reasoning helps Mathematically Gifted Students solve the problems on probability derived from real conditions and is closely related with mathematical creativity. Therefore, this study analysed characteristics of mathematical creativity shown in the process to solve the problems by the Mathematically Gifted Students based on five-step analogical reasoning. As a result, the specific characteristics shown in the process were categorized into three types.
