Abstract

This study was to investigate the observations and experiments activities presented in genetic and evolution unit of eight middle school science textbooks. It was composed of three subunits. There were total ten items, and average 5.25 items in it. There were presented one item in cell division middle unit, four items in reproduction and development middle unit, five items in genetic middle unit, but there was not presented at all in evolution middle unit. There was showed extremely much observation and experiment activity in genetic middle unit, but there was showed the most great variation among the textbooks. Many conceptional and theoretical learning activities presented in genetic and evolution unit, because of the characteristic of learning contents of the unit. However, there were showed to be limited the material of inquiry activity, and be not various for the essential element of inquiry activity as well as be short of explanation for the method in genetic and evolution unit.
