Abstract
Recently, with the continued advancement of mixed reality(MR) technology, MR contents are evolving into enhanced use r’s experience based on interacting synthesized virtual objects. In this paper, to analyze the effects of different emotionally r esponsive media types, we examined the impact of responsive media types on user emotional changes and task performance in MR environments. A responsive media type is defined as media in which a virtual object appears and responds with var ious emotional expressions during user interaction within a mixed reality environment. In the experiment, 21 types of reacti ve media were constructed by combining emotional expressions, behavioral patterns, and object categories to investigate whi ch type was most effective. In the experiment of our study, we found that dynamic virtual human was the most effective r esponsive media type in terms of generating emotions, and responsive media types had statistically significant effects on use r’s emotions and physiological responses, highlighting their potential influence on task performance. Through main findings of this paper, we expect to provide guidelines to create MR environments related to emotional control to improve the usabil ity of MR contents.
