Abstract

The purpose of this study is to find out the changes in the lifelong learning city development project by government period in Korea and to present the policy focus of the lifelong learning city project that should be continuously pursued in the future. This study was approached by literature research method. In other words, statistical data for each year, yearbooks, white papers, research papers and academic journals, and professional books related to lifelong education were utilized. The research contents of this study are as follows: First, how has the lifelong learning city development project been changed by government period? Second, how has the main project content of the lifelong learning city development project changed by government period? Third, what are the achievements and limitations of the lifelong learning city development project? The conclusions and suggestions are as follows. First, the lifelong learning city development project has responded to changes in the government’s policy and the environment of the times for each government period. Second, through this study, it is necessary to continuously promote the project while emphasizing the unique purpose that future projects should aim for, the government’s national tasks, and the policy focus of lifelong education.
