디포의 『페스트 일지』에 나타나 있는 코로나19

Abstract

This paper is aimed at finding out the factors of Corona-19 in A Journal of Plague Year written by Daniel Defoe in 1722. He was a realist, and his career as a journalist is important for he had learned of reporting techniques. He began the career of novelist in his late fifties and established as the first novelist with his works in English. He replaced the noble sentiments of literature with the common lives of the middle class, and wrote a genuine book of memoirs on a great historical disaster of the Great Plague in 1665. A Journal of the Plague Year is a fictional reconstruction based on true accounts. This work is unique in that accepting it as fiction, every generation has also taken it as history, however, its deeper truth belongs to the creative imagination. As corona 19 still goes on now, we can find out almost the same factors of corona 19 in A Journal of the Plague Year written 350 years ago. Through this study, we realize yet again that we should try not to repeat negative histories.
