Abstract

This study analyzes the importance of post-quantum cryptography (PQC) and its impact on authentication systems. The advancement of quantum computing poses a threat to existing encryption algorithms like RSA and ECC, jeopardizing the foundation of digital security. NIST is standardizing quantum-resistant algorithms such as CRYSTALS-Kyber, CRYSTALS-Dilithium, FALCON, and SPHINCS+ for transition by 2030. These technologies enhance authentication system security, necessitating transitions in digital signatures and PKI systems. Organizations must secure cryptographic agility and develop systematic transition plans to prepare for the post-quantum era. This transition signifies a fundamental change in digital security paradigms, providing an opportunity to counter future quantum computing threats.
