남북한 주민들이 서로 만나는 접촉지대(contact zone)에 대한 실증연구를 통해 남북한 마음의 통합이론과 그 이론의 한 구성요소인 북한적 마음체계의 이론을 구축하는 것이 이 글의 목적이다. 이 글의 구성은 다음과같다. 첫째, 접촉지대와 마음체계의 개념을 정의한다. 둘째, 남북한 접촉지대에 대한 경험적 연구성과를 정리한다. 특히 주목하는 것은, 마음의통합의 한 축인 북한이탈주민을 포함한 북한주민들의 마음체계를 결정하는 변수들이다. 셋째, 북한적 마음체계에 대한 지질학적 연구성과를 기초로 미시적 수준에서 남북한 마음의 통합이론을 제시한다.
Abstract
The purpose of this article is to construct an integration theory of minds of two Koreans as well as a theory on the North Korean system of mind as a component of the integration theory through empirical research on contact zone between peoples of North and South Koreas. The paper is organized as follows: Chapter 2 deals with the definition of contact zone and the system of mind. Chapter 3 introduces empirical research outcome on the contact zone between South and North Koreas. Particular attention is paid to the variables that determine the mind system of the North Korean populace including the North Korean resettlers in South Korea, as they constitute an important pillar in integration of the minds. Chapter 4, on the basis of “geological” research outcome on the North Korean mind system, proposes an integration theory for minds of North and South Koreans at a micro-level. Finally, this article raises a question on the relations between memory and mind.
