이 논문은 楚亭 朴齊家(1750~1805)가 燕行을 통해 일구어낸 국제 교류의 양상을 고찰했다. 초정이 중국 인사와 맺은 인맥은 양적으로 매우 풍부하고 질적으로도 최상의 수준이었다. 그가 맺은 인맥은 19세기의 활발한 교류의 물꼬를 텄다. 그의 교류는 일방향이 아니라 쌍방향에서 이루어졌다. 4차에 걸친 연행에서 초정은 많은 명사들과 인간적으로 친분을 맺어 가족간에도 오가는 관계로 발전했다. 서로를 방문하여 식사하고, 선물을 주고받으며, 오랜 동안 국경을 넘어서 편지를 왕래하고, 가족간의 친밀한 교류를 대를 이어 전했다. 깊고 친밀한 교유는 기생 六娥를 두고 오간 시문과 서로의 小照를 그려서 교환한 모습, 그리고 문방도구를 비롯한 물품을 주고받은 일로 입증된다. 중국 인사와의 만남 자체에 초점을 맞추어 살펴본 결과, 초정은 문화적 수준이 높은 지식인들과 친밀한 인간적 관계를 맺었고, 누구보다 폭넓고 깊이 있는 관계를 지속적으로 유지했으며, 그의 인간적 교유가 문화와 지식의 교류를 선도했고, 다른 세대에게 교유의 길을 이어주었다는 결론에 이르렀다.
Abstract
This paper looks into the aspects of international exchange through the travel to Yanjing by Chojeong Park Je-ga(1750-1805). The human network achieved by Park Je-ga's travel to Yanjing was abundant in quantity and the intellectual level was the highest. His networking initiated active interchanges of the nineteenth century. His interchange was interactive and developed a personal relationship with many celebrities through the four travels to Yanjing. They kept a close relationship between families, by visiting each other, having a meal, and exchanging presents and greetings. As an evidence of such a deep and close exchange, I present the poems, self-portrait, and writing materials that they exchanged by the medium of Gisaeng Yuk-a. It seems that Chojeong had an intimate relationship with Chinese superior intellectuals and kept the broad and deep relationship steady. His personal companionship lead a cultural and academic exchange and opened a way of social intercourse to the next generation.
