초록
The Ssangjungri site in Iksan and the Galsanri site in Wanju, both of which are in the Mankyung River basin and date back to around 30,000 BP, show a marked difference in the stone materials used in producing stone implements. Several studies have shown that rhyolitic stone materials with a compact molecular structure had been used selectively as they were effective in the advanced stone implement technology represented by ‘blade’. Therefore, it is understood that the Galsanri in which rhyolitic materials were primarily used had been made by a group who produced blade tools. On the other hand, the group linked to the Ssangjungri used quartzitic materials that were easily acquired in the surrounding region, which is related to the continuity of the tradition of pebble tools in the construction of stone implements. It is believed that considering such continuity to the stone implement tradition from the previous period, these relics might have been made by the local archeoanthropine or modern human from the southern region. In other words, it is believed that at least two or more groups, including the modern Homo sapiens from the northern region and the local archeoanthropine or the modern human from the southern region, may have co-existed and made various relics in the Mankyung River basin around 30,000 BP.
