Abstract
The purpose of this study was to develop and application an inquiry module to provide integrated education about the nature of light and the structure and function of eyes. It is also intended to examine whether the integrated inquiry module was more effective than typical instruction in changing conceptions and improving their inquiry process skills. The experimental group was instructed by using the inquiry module prepared in this study, and the control took typical separate lessons about light and eyes. The findings of the study were as follows. First, the experimental group underwent a broader change in average correct answer rates than the control group. Specifically, there was a more significant change in their integrative understanding of the nature of light and the structure and function of eyes. Second, the experimental group described scientific notions in a more specific and accurate manner than the control group, instead of merely describing what they learned by rote. Third, there was a wider change in the inquiry process skills mean scores of the experimental group than in that of the control group.
