This study aims to analyze the life of Henri Robert MarcelDuchamp(1887-1968) and work text in psychoanalytic meaning,and approach unconscious prototype suggested in all works. All works of Duchamp can be said to introspect a great varietyof human desire through the system of mass production, beingbased on materialism. This is deeply related in human mentalarea as well as simple conflict and confrontation between materialand world. Existing researchers describe works of Duchamp as the samemetaphysical image as ridicule, bizarreness, vagueness and abstrusity,but that is only superficial interpretation. The psychoanalyticanalysis unconscious about desire and conflict comingout in works of Duchamp is meaningful : this conflict is exposedin sociological background, which is not unrelated to the situationof society, politics, culture, art, and actuality all over Franceand Europe. Accordingly, this study tries to estimate the modern art historicalposition and artistic fulfilment in his works by consideringthe mental area in his material viewpoint - considering 'things'in psychoanalytic dimension.
