A Study on the Metaphors of Infection in Korean Films ― Focusing on ＜The Flu＞ and ＜Train to Busan＞ ―

This study examines the ways in which infectious diseases are metaphorized in films such as ＜The Flu＞(2013) and ＜Train to Busan＞(2016), which have been produced since 2000. In both films, ‘infection’ is not simply a disease but a national ‘catastrophe’ and is metaphorically punished by individuals. In Korean infection films, infection causes national isolation and exclusion, raising the question of survival ethics. The Korean infection films shows that it is not an unconditional compliance with the state power in order to survive in a society that is not properly operated by the state power, but that it should grasp the metaphor of infection which is revealed as a ‘rumor’.
