본 연구는 향후 전개될 한국학 도상 복원작업의 일환으로 남명 조식의 사상을 가장 집약적으로 제시하고 있는 「신명사도」의 원형복원 및 디지털화를 구축·제공하려는데 그 목적이 있다. 그리고 그 목적은 다음과 같은 의도에 의해 진행되었다. 첫째, 판본에 따라 도상의 형태가 상이한 「신명사도」를 모두 복원하고 디지털화하여 가독성(可讀性)을 극대화함으로써 이 분야의 연구자뿐만 아니라 일반인들에게도 도상에 대한 접근성을 수월하게 한다. 둘째, 완성된 도상들을 표준도로 제시함으로써 상용성을 증대하고 작업의 중복성을 최소화한다. 셋째, 복원된 도상들을 데이터베이스화하여 교육용자료로 적극 활용하고 연구자들에게도 제공한다. 넷째, 향후 전개될 「한국문집도록」 편찬사업의 선행과제로 활용한다.
Abstract
As a part of the upcoming project of restoring and preserving those diagrams important as cultural heritage in Korean studies, this study aims to trace to its original form and digitize 「Sin-myong-sa Diagram」, an epitome of Nammyong Josik’s philosophy. This conducted study has proceeded with the following objectives in mind：First, restore and digitize all different types and versions of 「Sin-myong-sa Diagram」 so that its increased legibility can make it more accessible to general public, as well as to researchers. Second, increase its common use and lessen unnecessary duplications in the restoration process by presenting the completed diagram as the standard. Third, after putting the restored and digitized diagram into a database, make the most of it as an educational source, as well as offer it to interested researchers. Fourth, utilize the restored and digitized diagram as the preceding research necessary for the publication of Anthology of Korean Diagrams in the future.
