『오렐리아』는 꿈과 환시의 체험을 통해 존재와 시간, 신성과 인간성의 통합을 탐색하는 문학적 시도이다. 본 논문은 이 작품에 나타나는 꿈의 구조적 전개에 주목하여, 꿈이 단순한 무의식의 투사가 아니라, 존재의 분열을 회복하고 새로운 삶의 가능성을 여는 핵심적인 매개임을 밝히고자 한다. 작품 속 꿈은 혼돈과 환각, 회귀와 자각, 통합의 비전이라는 단계를 거치며, 이 여정을 통해 현실과 비현실, 역사와 종교, 개인과 공동체의 경계가 점차 해체되고 재구성된다. 또한 꿈의 전개에 따라 언어 역시 변화하는데, 환상과 이미지 중심의 표현에서 성찰과 계시의 언어로 이행하는 어휘적 전환은 존재 인식의 심화와 통합의 지향을 드러내는 단서가 된다. 오렐리아는 이처럼 꿈이라는 문학적 장치를 통해 상실과 고통을 넘어 삶의 근원적 의미를 모색하는 내면적 여정이자, 문학을 통한 회복의 가능성을 탐구하는 서사로 읽을 수 있다.
Abstract
Aurélia is a literary meditation that explores the integration of existence, time, the sacred, and the human through experiences of dreams and visions. This paper focuses on the structural development of dreams in the text, arguing that they function not merely as projections of the unconscious or symptoms of madness, but as essential mediators leading toward the restoration of a fragmented self and the possibility of a renewed life. As the narrative progresses, dreams serve to gradually dissolve and reconfigure the boundaries between reality and non-reality, history and religion, individual and community. Alongside this development, the language of the work evolves as well: a movement from fantastic imagery to reflective and revelatory expression signals a deepening philosophical inquiry and a desire for unity. In this way, Aurélia presents an inward journey that transcends personal suffering and loss, offering a literary vision of recovery and a reimagining of meaning through the form of dream.
