Abstract
To search the ninhydrin analogues which have enhanced latent fingerprint detectable properties, CoMSIA models based on the reactivity between a glycine molecule and substituted (R 1 & R2 ) ninhydrin analogues were derived and discussed quantitatively. The statistical results of CoMSIA model showed better predictablility and fitness than CoMFA model. From the analytical results of contour maps of CoMSIA A1 model, the positive charge favor groups on C 5 atom of the benzo ring made the reactivity of ninhydrin molecules increase. And, H-bond acceptor disfavor groups and a steric favor group as R2 groups made the reactivity of ninhydrin molecules increase, too. The electron withdrawing groups had a tendency to increase the −εLUMO energy from the relationships between substituent constants of the groups (R 1 & R2) and their eLUMO energies. And the R1 groups influenced more on εLUMO energy than the R2 groups. From the based on these results, it is expected that the 3-pyridyl substituent will be able to react as an excellent latent fingerprint detector
