청소년비행원인에 대한 다층적 분석: 제3차 국제청소년비행조사를 중심으로

청소년비행 원인에 관한 기존 선행연구들은 청소년 비행에 영향을 개인, 가정, 학교, 지역사회 등을 포함하는 다층위 요인들을 종합적으로 분석하기 보다는 각각의 수준에서 연구가설을 검증하는데 중점을 두었다. 따라서 본 연구는 청소년 비행 원인을 개인, 가족, 학교 및 지역사회 수준에서 다층적으로 파악해 보았다. 이를 위해 ISRD-3 자료를 활용하여 비행, 학교 및 지역사회관련 요인을 측정하였고 그 외 지역사회 수준의 변인은 인구센서스, 한국도시연감, 범죄백서, 경철청 자료 등을 활용하였다. 분석결과에 따르면, 가족관련 변수 중 부모통제, 육체적 체벌은 청소년비행에 부정적 영향을 미치는 것으로 조사되었으나 지역사회요인을 통제한 후에는 이러한 유의미한 관계가 지속되지 않은 것으로 파악되었다. 학교관련 변수 중 학교폭력 경험은 유일한 유의미한 변수로 확인되었고 집합효용성과 지역사회 무질서는 선행연구와 마찬가지로 청소년 비행에 통계적으로 유의미한 영향을 미치는 것으로 조사되었다.
Abstract
Although there is an increasing body of research on juvenile delinquency, there is little research examining multilevel influences of family, school, and community level characteristics on juvenile delinquency. Moreover, most of prior inquiry focuses on separate effects of family, school, and community factors on delinquent behaviors. Therefore, the current study seeks to examine multilevel effects of family, school, and community factors on juvenile delinquency using ISRD-3 and official statistics such as Korean Census and Official Crime Reports. In particular, in order to investigate multilevel data and relationships, the current study employed hierarchical logistic regression analyses. The results from logistic regression analyses confirm that collective efficacy and community disorders had statistically significant effects on juvenile delinquency. Although parental supervision and physical punishment variables found to be statistically significant at 0.05 level among four family related factors, these significant findings became non significant factors after controlling for community characteristics. Finally, the findings and its implications are also discussed.
