Abstract

Estimation of postmortem interval (PMI-min) in crime-scene investigations is one of the important tasks in forensic science and field practice, such as estimating suspects or identification. Although there are many methods of estimating postmortem interval, such as body temperature change after death, livor mortis, rigor mortis, digestion of stomach contents, and supravital reaction, but there are limitations in quantifying them, which are difficult to apply after decomposition. In this study, the minimum postmortem interval was estimated using forensic entomological evidences collected from a total of 25 corpses within the jurisdiction of Chungbuk provincial police agency between 2019 and 2020. It has been confirmed that the results do not conflict with last track record.
