Abstract
The purpose of this study is to introduce the newly created alternatives of crime prevention and treatment using virtual reality (VR) as well as to review the negative effects of the use of adolescents’ violent virtual (VR) video games. Various online contents that come with virtual realty (VR) video games offer children and adolescents a lot of useful things in terms of excitement and entertainment. In fact, many positive experiences can be gained by playing virtual video games. But parents and adolescents should all be aware of the inherent risks of playing violent virtual reality (VR) video games, thereby parents should monitor and properly guide children and adolescents’ violent virtual reality (VR) video games. In addition, virtual reality (VR) is no longer a novelty used for fantasy or pure entertainment. It is positive technology that has dominated and enriched many areas of science in the last 30 years, most notably health care. In particular, it is being adapted and constantly evolving to focus on the diagnosis and treatment of mental health disorders using virtual reality (VR) (Wiederhold & Riva, 2019). Current literature, future research directions, and possible implications are discussed.
