사회계층이 청소년 비행에 미치는 영향:성차를 중심으로

초록

본 연구의 목적은 사회문화심리학적 관점에서 장기종단연구를 통해 사회계층이 청소년 비행에 미치는 영향을 알아보고, 이 같은 효과가 성별에 따라 어떻게 다른가를 밝히고자 하였다. 이를 위해 한국청소년정책연구원의 2018년 한국아동․청소년 패널조사(KCYPS) 자료 중 중학교 1학년 패널의 제 1차(중학교 1학년)와 제 4차(고등학교 1학년)자료를 사용하였다. 분석에 사용된 자료는 총 2,263명(남:1,216명, 여: 1,047명)이었다. 분석결과, 현실비행경험에 있어서 고등학교 1학년보다 중학교 1학년 시기의 비행경험이 더 낮게 나타났다. 이중 범법비행은 고등학교 1학년 때에 비해 중학교 1학년 때 비행경험이 더 낮았으나, 지위 비행의 경우에는 그 반대였다. 여자의 경우에는 남자와 달리 지위비행에서 두 시기간에 차이가 없었다. 사회계층에 따른 비행의 차이는 중학교 1학년 시기에는 ‘상’과 ‘중’계층에 비해 ‘하’계층의 비행이 더 많았으나 고등학교 1학년 시기에는 차이가 없었다. 사회계층이 비행에 미치는 영향을 살펴보면, 중학교 1학년 시기에는 사회계층은 비행에 부적인 영향을 미쳤으나 고등학교 시기에는 범법비행에만 부적 영향을 미치며, 다른 비행에는 유의미한 영향이 없었다. 사회계층이 비행에 미치는 영향에는 성차가 있었다. 즉 남자의 경우에는 중학교 1학년과 고등학교 1학년 모두 사회계층이 비행에 미치는 영향이 없었으나 여자의 경우에는 중학교 1학년 시기에는 지위비행만 그리고 고등학교 시기에는 사회계층이 모든 비행에 부적 영향이 있었다. 한편 과거의 사회계층(중학교 1학년 사회계층)은 미래의 비행(고등학교 1학년 비행)을 예측하는데 성차가 있었다. 즉 여자만이 중학교 1학년때의 사회계층이 고등학교 1학년 시기의 각 비행 모두에 유의미하게 영향을 미쳤다. 마지막으로 본 연구의 의의와 제한점이 논의되었다.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the impact of adolescents' social classes on delinquency through longitudinal study and found out how the impact differs according to gender. To this end, the 1st(first year of middle school) and 4th(first year of high school) data of the 1st year panel of middle school were used among the 2018 Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey (KCYPS) data of the National Youth Policy Institute. A total of 2,263 people (male: 1,216 people, female: 1,047) were used for the analysis. As a result, the delinquency experience in the first year of middle school was lower than that in the first year of high school in terms of overall delinquency experience. Among them, the law-breaking delinquency experience was lower in the first year of middle school than in the first year of high school, but the opposite was true in the case of deviation misdemeanors. The difference in delinquency according to the social class was more common in the "lower" class than the "upper" and "middle" classes in the first year of middle school, but there was no difference in the first year of high school. Looking at the impact of social classes on delinquency, social classes had a negative impact on delinquency in the first year of middle school, but only law-breaking delinquency in high school, and there was no significant impact on other delinquencies. There was a gender gap in the impact of social class on delinquency. In the case of male, both the first year of middle school and the first year of high school, social classes had no effect on delinquency. But in the case of female, only deviation misdemeanors in the first year of middle school were influenced by social class and social classes in high school had a negative effect on all delinquency. On the other hand, only women significantly influenced all delinquency in the first year of high school by the social class in the first year of middle school. Finally, the significance and limitations of this study were discussed.
