Abstract

A Study about Development and Distinctiveness of Fanfictions Nam, Myoung-Hee Lecturer / Chugye University for the Arts Fanfiction is a fan-made fiction. Fanfiction is based on fandom leaded by fans with positive attitude. Fan-made pictures, or other works are called 'fanart'. Fanfiction or fanart is came from enthusiasm to some works or objects. Fans enjoy the process of consumption, and then want to imitate, and then afoot the similar production. Fanfiction shows the case that production and consumption happens in same acceptance. Fans write fanfiction for their own wishes, even they cannot change the original object. Actually, they worship the original object as a "cannon". Many fanfictions are about the characters of the cannons, so a lot of romance fictions are shown. Fanfictions are on the side of "apocrypha" compared with cannon. But in the sphere of cannon, fanfictions have a non boundary. So many fanfiction shows alternative universe stories. The reason is based on propensity of fan, and every fanfiction has the similar process even they are not connected. In the time of on-line culture, fandom is enhanced to influence non-fan people. The very reason is came from network. Fans are connected and make complete their works - and they take a part in process of "collective intelligence". In the flow of collective intelligence, fans are make their own fan-world. Network intensify fandom: they can contact the producers of cannon, and they get same joyment to imitate process of the one of cannon. Even fanfiction can raise the problem of minority culture. Fanfiction is almost feminine culture: many of producers and comsumers are known as female. As a women's work, fanfiction can be alternative one against general culture. Taste and fondness are important as authority of author, and the ambiguity of fondness needs tolerance to everyone.
