Abstract
For the past 100 years, it is no exaggeration to say that the strong capital and cultural support of the United States are behind Hollywood. The United States uses movies as a tool for spreading their culture and ideology that protects its national interests, such as democracy and freedom, Pax America, capitalism, and white/male supremacy, behind colorful spectacles, sophisticated narratives and entertainment. One of the genres which represent this is superhero movies. The narrative of a superhero movie is simple. A hero with superhuman power saves someone in crisis. This narrative development is also closely related to the background in which the United States wished for a savior during the war and created the existence of a superhero. Superhero movies born to protect the existence and values of the United States naturally represent American ideology. This study selects money, power, diversity, and gender as the main values that support the country of the United States, and analyzes how superhero films are contributing to the audience's acceptance of these values. This study examines how American dominant values were reproduced in movies, targeting theater films produced by Marvel Studio, so-called Marvel Cinematic Universe, among superhero movies.
