초록

이 연구의 목적은 1세대 CPTED와 2세대 CPTED를 포괄하는 도시재생사업이 범죄두려움에 영향을 미치는 과정을 분석하는 것이다. 이를 위해 도시재생사업 시범지역에 거주하거나 경제활동 및 일상생활을 하는 주민을 설문조사하여 282사례를 분석하였으며, 구체적 분석방법은 구조적 관계파악을 위한 구조방정식모형과 매개효과분석을 위한 Sobel’s test를 활용하였다. 분석결과, 1세대 CPTED는 직접적으로 범죄두려움에 유의미한 영향을 미치지 못했지만, 무질서를 매개하여 범죄두려움에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 또, 2세대 CPTED 역시 직접적ㆍ간접적으로 범죄두려움에 유의미한 영향을 미치지 못했고, 무질서에 오히려 정(+)적 영향관계를 미치는 것으로 확인되었다. 끝으로, 무질서는 범죄두려움에 가장 중요한 영향요인으로 확인되었다. 이러한 본 연구의 발견은 도시재생사업에서 주민의 범죄안전인식, 즉 범죄두려움을 고려할 때 물리적 환경개선이 선행되어야 함을 보여준다. 특히, 물리적 무질서 및 사회적 무질서를 해결할 수 있는 실천적 정책개발을 제언한다.

Abstract

People’s perception of crime and incivilities vary considerably depending on their attitudes towards environmental conditions. The purpose of this paper is to analyze process that urban regeneration projects, which include 1st generation CPTED and 2nd generation CPTED, influences in fear of crime. In all, 282 respondents from a selected group of residents who live in JeonJu Urban Regeneration Test-bed area were involved in this study. The structural equation modelling technique and Sobel’s test was employed for understanding structural relations and mediation effects analysis. The analysis concludes that 1st generation CPTED does not have any significant direct effects on fear of crime. But It has mediation effect to fear of crime by incivilities. There is no significant direct/indirect negative influence of 2nd generation CPTED on fear of crime. Lastly, it found that incivilities is the most important variable for fear of crime. This study suggest that it must be precede the urban regeneration projects with physical environmental improvement for considering the residents’ fear of crime. Particularly, it is necessary to make practical policy development able to solve both physical incivility and social incivility.
